Bridget Toebes was named an Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau on 20 April, one of the Netherland’s highest honours, for her work on the human right to health. Officers of the Order of Orange-Nassau are people recognised for outstanding contributions to society. Brigit is recognised as a leader in the field of the human right to health; for her commitment to discouraging smoking, drinking and unhealthy food consumption; as a professor and a mentor to many students; and for an unwavering commitment to affordable medicines.
Brigit was a founding member of the Pharmaceutical Accountability Foundation (PAF) Expert Advisory Board, where her legal insight was instrumental in PAF’s successful complaint against Leadiant for abusing its dominant market position to inflate the price of a medicine.
Also on 20 April, Brigit launched her book: Dat maak ik zelf wel uit: Reflecties over gezondheid, vrijheid en recht (That’s for me to decide: Reflections on health, freedom, and justice). It is available here.
PAF congratulates Brigit on the well-deserved recognition!
